Position Summary                                                                                                                                           

The Credit Policy Analyst is responsible for assisting the VP of Credit Policy and Product Development in the research, drafting, implementation and adherence of established credit policy procedures and underwriting guidelines.   This position will review and analyze announcements from FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA and various state bond agencies for changes to guidelines.  The candidate should possess general mortgage industry product knowledge and be familiar with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and USDA policies.  The individual will act as a subject matter expert for the review and research related to existing product and policy changes as well as a point of contact for providing or obtaining policy clarification for various investor guidelines.  A thorough and current knowledge of the mortgage industry is required. The Product & Credit Analyst will have a track record of success in credit risk, product development or underwriting.  This position requires interaction with senior management, employees, and other interested third parties.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Conventional Conforming, Government and Bond Agency announcements and guideline changes; subject matter expert for credit and credit-related requirements
  • Non-Agency product and policy review with a strong understanding of QM and appendix Q rules
  • Communicate timely and effectively changes to VP Credit Policy and other departments as applicable to ensure alignment with current investor requirements, applicable laws and best mortgage practices.
  • Assists in the research, development, implementation and adherence of established credit policy procedures and underwriting guidelines.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to external departments in the interpretation of credit policy ; Assist in developing credit policy updates to established underwriting guidelines
  • Track underwriting guideline and credit policy changes and maintain archives of published policies
  • Provide ad-hoc support and work cross-functionally within New Penn to assist in the development, maintenance, and communication of New Penn’s credit policy and procedures
  • Draft product profiles, policies and procedures and announcements. 
  • Ensures project deadlines are met and implementation and results are achieved as designed
  • Ensures that policies comply with regulations, New Penn corporate policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate and report on guideline/policy exceptions to identify trends and track overall performance of funded exceptions
  • Work with CCO on various projects as assigned
  • Partner with Capital Markets for the launch of new products and investors;  work to understand and establish fulfillment capabilities necessary for successful releases
  • Perform all other duties as requested or assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements                                                                                                                                             

  • 7+ years of Underwriting experience in the Mortgage industry required
  • Strong knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and USDA guidelines
  • Proven experience with Non-Agency/Jumbo products
  • 4 year degree
  • Excellent customer service skills in both the written and verbal environments
  • Must possess excellent data analysis and manipulation skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Proven initiative, positive attitude, team oriented, self-motivated and highly enthusiastic
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook
  • Experience with Sharepoint, Jira and/or Integra Software Systems a plus
  • Team oriented with ability to interact within and outside of the organization
  • Able to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines with quality in a fast-paced environment
